The New Face of Doing Business in Chattanooga

Maria Noel in Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce:

“A major focus of this program is to support initiatives that increase African American business ownership in Chattanooga,” said Hal Bowling, also an Advisory Board member and co-founder of LAUNCH, a business training, mentoring and support program. “African Americans make up about 20 percent of the population in Hamilton County but only 9 percent of the businesses. We have some work to do, but that is why I believe this program is so crucial. Growing the number of African American-owned businesses in Chattanooga is vital for the overall health of our city. We need to at least double the number of these businesses in Chattanooga over the next several years in order to be in a better place.”
