Saturday Night Live just had its best ratings of the season and it’s all thanks to Latino crooner Bruno Mars, who was the show’s host and musical guest over the weekend.
Mars – whose real name is Peter Gene Hernández – helped bring in a record number of viewers for the comedy series, which helped the NBC show secure its best numbers and highest ratings since troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan hosted SNL in March.
The soulful vocalist has garnered critical acclaim for his comedic performance during the show, even drawing comparisons to musical icon Jason Timberlake.

The Pandora Intern skit was absolutely hilarious to me. I loved that Bruno sounded exactly like Michael Jackson. I didn’t see the show live the other night since I was working late at DISH. I set up my Hopper to automatically record SNL so I could watch it the next morning. It’s nice that I can have the entire season on my DVR, and still have plenty of recording space left over. Bruno Mars is one of my favorite artists, and I can’t wait to hear his new album.
